Stipendium Hungaricum is a Hungarian Government scholarship program for international students. It offers scholarships for Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, and PhD studies in Hungary. Pakistan is one of the participating countries.
The scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver, monthly stipend, accommodation support or a contribution toward accommodation, and medical insurance. It also provides students with the opportunity to study at Hungarian universities and earn internationally recognized degrees.
For Pakistani applicants, eligibility depends on the study level. For a Master’s programme, applicants must have completed or be completing a 16-year Bachelor’s degree. Final-semester and result-awaiting students were allowed to apply for the 2026–27 intake, but they had to submit their final degree and transcript by 1 August 2026. Some Hungarian universities may require IELTS or TOEFL, while others may accept an English proficiency certificate from the applicant’s previous university.
The required documents generally include the online application form, academic transcripts and certificates, passport, study plan, and language-proficiency proof where required. Depending on the programme, a recommendation letter and additional documents may also be required. PhD applicants may need a research proposal and a statement from a potential supervisor. Pakistani applicants must submit applications through both the Stipendium Hungaricum portal and the HEC portal.
